Today I took sone notes on our Socratic seminar discussion
A right is something each and every person should honor. We must abuse it in the right ways.
If you have an opinion it doesn’t matter unless someone understands you.
An opinion is the closure to an argument.
Having an opinion doesn’t need the other party to feel anything until they acknowledge it
You must have evidence to back up your reasoning
Loco perenti is important it means in the place of a parent

August 15 The Socratic method can be a good idea when students in the class make it welcoming and no one feels belittled by their ideas. The article mentions that it is sometimes used to tear down ideas they hear. Its not a debate and there should be no strong judgement against the others thoughts. There should be acknowledge and if there is disagreement just letting their side be known. With a group full of teenagers its hard because everyone wants to be right. With a class full of nerds no one wants to be told their wrong or embarrassed by something they said. When everyone is accepting it makes the Socratic so much easier because no one is scared of sounding stupid.
